NEW: Answers to questions about termination notices

Wondering what to do if you received a termination — also called disenrollment — notice? Check out the new section in our provider FAQs with information on the impact and steps to take in this situation. That section will be updated with more questions soon.

And if you have any questions about navigating the appeals process, please send an email to  provider.enrollment.appeals.dhs@state.mn.us

Question of the week

Q: Can I still provide and bill for services if I received a termination notification?

A: Providers can continue to provide services after they get a termination notice; however, we will not consider reinstating a provider’s ability to bill until the provider submits all required materials. For continuity of care, we may consider reinstating the ability to bill for some providers before completing site visits, but only after all materials have been submitted.

Important: If you provide services after getting a disenrollment (termination) notification and do not successfully complete the appeals process and are not reenrolled with MHCP, you are unable to bill the Minnesota Department of Human Services for reimbursement of services provided on or after the disenrollment (termination) effective date.

Obstetric services billing changes webinar

Starting Jan. 1, 2027, the American Medical Association is removing all maternity bundle codes and adding new codes that separate labor management from delivery. Providers need to change how they bill starting Jun. 1, 2026, for prenatal care provided to pregnant patients due in 2027. Review the May 8 news and updates message for more info about the coding change.

The department is hosting a webinar on Thursday, May 21, from 12:15 to 1 p.m., to provide more detail and answer questions.
