DHS announces MAP direct services training for school-based providers

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is excited to share a professional development opportunity for school-based mental health providers delivering services under Minnesota’s Mental Health and Special Education (MH SPED) program.

This five-day Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP) direct services workshop will be held October 20 - 24 at Washburn Center for Children in Minneapolis. It is designed to equip school-based providers with practical tools for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to students, while also progressing toward the MAP Therapist credential.

We are reaching out to supervisors and department leads who can help identify and recommend staff members from their district or program who would most benefit from this training.

MAP is a flexible, evidence-informed framework that helps providers:

  • Deliver Medicaid-reimbursable services under MH SPED and other school-based programs
  • Match interventions effectively to individual student needs
  • Use a structured, adaptable approach that works within the school setting

This training is sponsored by DHS, and there is no cost to attend. Breakfast, lunch and CE credits are included. Many school staff can also use district professional development (PD) funds to help with travel or other related expenses.

More details, registration and eligibility requirements are available.

Specific questions about this opportunity can be emailed to Krista Moore or Mollie Dusha.
