Provider Hub Update

July 8, 2025

This message has been sent to Minnesota family child care license holders about the launch of family child care licensing in the Provider Hub.

What the Provider Hub Is

The Provider Hub is an online tool to apply for social services licenses, funding and other government programs.

Today, licensed and certified child care centers use the Provider Hub for:

  • Licensing/certification
  • Child Care Assistance Program provider registration management
  • Great Start Compensation Support Payment Program participation
  • Enrollment and attendance

When these parts of the Provider Hub are ready for family child care providers, you will get access. Learn more on the Provider Hub webpage.

When You'll Have to use the Provider Hub for Licensing

We previously communicated that family child care licensing would tentatively launch in the Provider Hub summer 2025. We are adjusting this timeframe to support a successful experience for you. We are currently determining when the launch will occur.

We understand changing timeframes may cause stress and frustration. We appreciate your patience. Here is the information we do have:

Pilot

First, we'll pilot family child care licensing in the Provider Hub with the following counties: Becker, Cass, Crow Wing, Douglas, Hubbard, Morrison, Stevens, Todd and Wadena. These counties partner with Sourcewell for family child care licensing.

Family child care providers and licensing staff in these counties will be notified of the pilot launch date at least 60 days before the pilot begins. The pilot will run for one month.

Regional launch

After the pilot, the Provider Hub will go live by region. In our upcoming communications, we’ll share the regional launch order.

You will be notified well in advance of when you and other family child care providers in your region have to begin using the Provider Hub for licensing.

We will offer an in-person support event in your region around the time you have to start using the Provider Hub for licensing. We’ll share more information about these events as detailed are finalized.
