Agency Spotlight: Men of African Heritage Employee Resource Group
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led groups dedicated to strengthening retention, workplace connections and belonging within the organization. They support the agency’s mission and vision through strategic functions focused on culture, career development and community building.
The members of the Men of African Heritage ERG at DHS support each other through networking, mentorship, sponsorship, knowledge sharing and professional development opportunities. These efforts help ensure that men of African heritage are recognized as valued contributors to the agency, have access to safe spaces to express their voices and experiences and feel empowered and supported as employees.
The State of Minnesota also offers ERGs that any member of the enterprise can join. The Equity Justice Black Caucus (EJBC) complements the DHS Men of African Heritage ERG, with a vision to champion an inclusive workplace, enhance state government culture and value the experiences, contributions and advancement of Black employees.
