DHS shares DAANES update

The Department of Human Services (DHS) has simplified data collection by separating the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Normative Evaluation System (DAANES) from claims submissions. This change allows DAANES to focus specifically on meeting state and federal reporting requirements.

Legal Requirements and Importance

All treatment providers must continue to submit complete and accurate information in the DAANES reporting system as required by:

• Minnesota Statute 254B.05 Subd. 1b. Clause 3
• Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) enrollment conditions

Your diligent data submission is essential for:

• Securing adequate future funding
• Meeting compliance with state and federal requirements
• Accessing valuable data for your own decision making and program improvement

Compliance Monitoring

Please be advised that the Office of Inspector General's Licensing Division will be reviewing DAANES completion during audits. Incomplete DAANES reporting may result in a citation. The Behavioral Health Administration will monitor completion rates to address compliance issues.
