The Department of Human Services (DHS) is announcing a series of upcoming American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) training opportunities specifically designed for Minnesota substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers.

The training focuses on utilizing the ASAM Criteria to develop assessments, individualized treatment plans and documentation, ensuring that organizations adhere to best practices for ASAM-aligned, person-centered care. Additional ASAM-related trainings will be provided throughout 2025. All trainings are virtual unless otherwise indicated.

Trainers: The training will be conducted by Train for Change, experts in equipping staff with the necessary tools to effectively implement the ASAM Criteria.

Registration: To register for the training, please click the links below. Space is limited, so register as soon as possible to secure your spot.

Cost: The training is free of charge for SUD providers in Minnesota.

                Jan. 17, 2025, 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• One-day ASAM Criteria, Third Edition overview

                Feb. 5, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• One-day treatment planning using the ASAM Criteria, Fourth Edition (applicable to both ASAM Third and Fourth editions)

                Feb. 12, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• One-day training on using a harm reduction approach within the ASAM Criteria, Third Edition framework

                Feb. 21, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Two-day ASAM Criteria, Third Edition skill building training

                Feb. 26 and 27, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

                Feb. 27 and 28, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

                March 4 and 5, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Two-day ASAM Criteria, Third Edition skill building training, (In-person, location TBD)

               March 10 and 11, 2025, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
