Free upcoming training on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders assessment and intervention


Mental health clinicians, psychologists and medical professionals are invited to attend two Zoom webinars focusing on the assessment and intervention of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Attendees do not have to attend the first webinar to attend the second; however, the first webinar will provide foundational information regarding FASD. CEUs will be provided for attendance at each webinar. The Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) system of care is partnering with Fraser, Proof Alliance, University of Minnesota and The Village Family Service Center to provide the training sessions. These webinars are a showing of the live trainings that were recorded and occurred in September 2024.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Assessment

Jan. 9, 2025, 8:15 a.m. - noon

  • Participants will be able to:
    • Identify symptoms of FASD
    • Identify screening process leading to referral for FASD assessment
    • Identify medical and psychological components of a FASD evaluation
    • Understand family experience to positively engage families in assessment and intervention practices

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Intervention

Jan. 10, 2025, 8:15 a.m. - noon

  • Participants will be able to:
    • Identify the biophysical impact of alcohol on the fetus and developing brain
    • Identify evidence-based practices and promising medical and behavioral interventions for children with FASD
    • Understand the family experience to support engagement in intervention
