Opportunity to provide feedback on public health insurance in Minnesota

The Minnesota Department of Commerce (Commerce) is looking for individuals to tell the agency what they want to see from their health insurance plans.

In 2023, the Minnesota Legislature directed Commerce and the Department of Human Services (DHS) to work with the Minnesota Department of Health and MNsure to conduct an analysis of different public health care options. A public health insurance option would be run by the state (though it could be administered by a private health insurance company) and available as an option in addition to private health insurance options. Commerce and DHS submitted their report to the Legislature in February 2024 with several recommendations.

The agencies need to obtain additional feedback from consumers in Minnesota regarding:

  • what they like and dislike about their health care plans,
  • what they want from their health care plans,
  • and other issues

Several group discussions will be held this summer to gather feedback. The information gathered from these conversations and other findings will help legislators and the public better understand what Minnesotans want and need from their health insurance. The completed report will be available on the Commerce website.

Complete this interest form to choose which dates and times would work best for you to participate. Group discussions are about two hours. You can also copy and paste this link into your browser to access the form: https://forms.office.com/g/8LSekKibxT.

Time slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. While the form asks for your name and email address, your participation will be anonymous. Your information is only needed for scheduling purposes.

These group discussions will be conducted by Management Analysis and Development (MAD), a section of Minnesota Management and Budget that provides consulting services for state agencies.
