The SSIS Business Section at DHS celebrates Plamen Dimitrov, SSIS fiscal mentor, from Cook County as the most recent SSIS mentor of the month.
Plamen’s thoroughness brought attention to a problem within a BRASS code that is currently being corrected. He, along with other agency mentors, hosted an in-person, technical assistance session with DHS SSIS Business Operations staff. Plamen also met virtually with SSIS Business Operations fiscal subject matter experts to ensure he was maximizing claiming for Cook County.
Plamen’s diligence and attention to detail is appreciated greatly. Thank you and congratulations, Plamen!
Nominations for mentor of the month can be submitted to Heide Moris, SSIS Mentor Program Coordinator.
The review of the SSIS system as outlined in legislation related to the CP Paperwork Reduction bill began this week. Cynthia Shypulski, SSIS Business Operations Supervisor and her team of Subject Matter Experts, Sam Breidenbach, Erica Jepson, Erica Peterson, and Marcia Ryss are conducting review sessions with end users and policy staff for each module of SSIS from the point of view of a child protection worker, e.g., intake and screening, child protection assessment and investigation, placement, etc. End users from across the state were appointed by the Child Welfare Training Academy Advisory Network to participate in the focus groups. Upon completion of each module, SSIS will present recommendations for changes in the existing system to streamline data entry requirements. Summaries of these conversations will be shared in the SSIS Updates. This review is the highest priority and hopes to wrap up by April.
User Settings, User Grid Settings, and User Spelling Settings can be adjusted in SSIS to display items in a certain way. It is recommended that workers back up user settings prior to each new release to ensure they are not lost. If settings are not saved, SSIS will revert to default settings. Backing up settings is easy and takes a few minutes. Instructions for the process can be found here.
Statewide Release v24.1 is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. Additional Release information can be found on the SSIS Resource page under SSIS General Release Information.
The 2024 SSIS Monthly State Reporting Schedule has been posted on the SSIS Resource Page.
Did you know that grids in SSIS work similarly to columns in Excel? If a search is run in SSIS and the columns are too small to read the data, hover to the right of the column to be expanded and double-click. The column will automatically resize to fit the data inside the cells!
