The SSIS Business Section at DHS is seeking three agencies to pilot SSIS Version 24.1 (V24.1) January 21 – February 20, 2024. V24.1 Statewide Release is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Piloting is an integral part of SSIS releases.
Piloting responsibilities include having an agency SSIS coordinator or mentor to:
- coordinate the pilot test checklist (provided when pilot begins) then attend and provide feedback on tested items during a weekly pilot call (the checklist is mostly tested through day-to-day work by agency SSIS users)
- coordinate pilot specific communications/questions/feedback between SSIS Business Operations and the agency when needed outside of weekly pilot calls
Piloting provides agencies an opportunity to check out what’s ahead prior to statewide release and allows time for feedback to ensure changes will work for SSIS users. Additional benefits to participating during pilot include receiving priority SSIS Help Desk assistance and virtual and/or onsite pilot visits.
For more information regarding piloting V24.1 or future pilots, contact Marcia Ryss, SSIS Change & Engagement Consultant.
There is a known defect with the editor in state service plans. When using the automatic numbering format option, if the numbering spans multiple pages, when printed, the numbers will restart on the new page rather than continue as would be expected. The workaround is to use bullets instead of automatic numbering or manually enter the list numbers. This will be fixed in a future SSIS release. Thank you to Sherburne County for bringing this to our attention.
For coordination of needed changes to fiscal interfaces, agency mentor(s) and/or agency IT staff are asked to email the SSIS Help Desk at least two weeks prior to making updates/changes to:
- Firewalls
- Passwords
- Changing out an agency server
Advance notice allows for better assistance and planning as SSIS plays a large part in this process.
Agency mentor(s) and/or agency IT staff are asked to email the SSIS Help Desk as soon as possible prior to making updates/changes to:
- Agency accounting system vendor
- Chart of Account (COA) structure
- Vendor number/structure
Fiscal interfaces are used for payment batches as well as vendor import. If there is no communication between SSIS and an agency accounting system, payment batches and vendors will not be updated.
This notification information should also be used for any changes made to the OpenLink server, including both username and password. Please email the SSIS Help Desk prior to making changes or if you have questions on this process.
The ICD-10-CM codes have been updated in SSIS to reflect changes made by MMIS. ICD-10 diagnosis updates were made by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) FY2024 (10/1/23 – 9/30/24)
501 diagnosis codes were added, 27 diagnosis codes were revised (short or long description changes), and 25 codes were ended as of 9/30/2023 that are not specific enough to use for claiming on or after 10/1/2023. No changes were made to mental health billable codes in SSIS.
CMS provides a helpful data conversion table that can be found here: https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coding-billing/icd-10-codes/2024-icd-10-cm
Kelly Madsen, is the SSIS Superglue at MN Prairie County Alliance. Kelly trains new staff and is available for one-on-one support to seasoned SSIS workers who find themselves unsure of how to enter things, or what to do when they get kicked out of their session. On a recent site visit by SSIS Management, Kelly’s colleagues called her “super woman” and sang her praises loudly. SSIS Help Desk Lead, Shawna Meyers, says of Kelly, “She is one of the mentors that when an email is received, I know I'm going to have work to do (not something simple)”. Kelly is also an Account Clerk, so has gracefully juggled SSIS expertise with running fiscal reports and correcting claim errors. Kelly is a familiar face at SSIS Performance and Stability workgroups and the Tier 2 check in calls. We appreciate her active participation in making SSIS better and her devoted support of the end users at her agency.
