Peer Recovery Support Services Vendor Enrollment and Requirements Workgroup registration

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking input from substance use disorder recovery stakeholders in developing recommendations that will ensure the best care for those who are receiving peer recovery services.

The Improve Group will be hosting a Peer Recovery Support Services Vendor Enrollment and Requirements workgroup session Nov. 30, 2023, from 9 to 11 a.m. If you are interested in participating in these workgroup(s), please register here.

Minnesota Session Law 2023, Chapter 61, Article 4, Section 26, requires the Commissioner of Human Services to, “… consult with providers, counties, Tribes, recovery community organizations (RCOs), and the recovery community at large to develop recommendations on whether entities seeking vendor eligibility for medical assistance peer recovery support services should be subject to additional provider enrollment and oversight requirements.”

Peer recovery services have been Medicaid billable services since 2019 (254B.05, subd. 5, clause (4)). Currently, substance use disorder licensed treatment programs and RCOs are the only eligible vendors to bill for these services. The last legislative session also added counties as an eligible vendor of peer recovery services, effective Jan. 1, 2024 or upon federal approval, whichever is later.
