Special characters can no longer be used when creating/editing User IDs on the User screen or on the Active Directory Credentials dialog box in SSIS. Characters allowed are alphabetic characters A through Z, and numeric characters 0 through 9.
During the Statewide Release coffee talk presentation May 23, 2023, it was noted that a few special characters (hyphen, period, and underscore) would be allowed in User IDs. This is no longer the case and special characters cannot be used.
System Administrators do not need to make changes to existing SSIS User IDs. Moving forward, however, administrators must follow the SSIS User ID rules above when creating new SSIS User IDs in preparation for a possible move to Azure.
Minnesota County Financial & Accounting Reporting Standards (COFARS) are followed on county quarterly reports. A client-related expense is COFARS series 6001-6099. Client meals are considered client-related expenses and are not eligible for reimbursement administratively on these reports.
Counties can choose to use an administrative account and pay this as an all-county expense in the 6800 series of COFARS. This is then reported as a non-eligible expense on their administrative reports. Other counties will use a BRASS code when client incidentals are paid. When using a BRASS code to report client expenses, it is best practice to enter these as payment requests or posted payments within SSIS.
