Now that all agencies have been migrated to the new Horizon farm, the plan to shut down the Legacy SSIS farm is starting to take place.
The plan is to have all agency testing and training environments established and available by September 7, 2022.
The Legacy farm, for all agency environments, will be shut down the week of October 9, 2022.
As a reminder, all production users should be using the new Horizon environment at this time. The legacy environment will not be accessible after October 9, 2022. Users can upgrade to Horizon Client 8.4 (version 2111) at any time, but all upgrades must be complete by October 9. Instructions for this upgrade can be found here.
The MNIT Firewall team will perform an upgrade on the enterprise firewall hardware at the EDC1 data center Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 a.m.
No firewall request(s) will be updated to the EDC1 Firewall September 5, 2022 at noon through September 7, 2022 at 6:00 a.m.
This upgrade will cause brief intermittent interruptions to Network and Data services for systems behind these firewalls.

Agencies affected include Faribault/Martin, Freeborn, Goodhue, Hennepin, Houston, Hubbard, Isanti, Itaska, Kandiyohi, Le Sueur, McLeod, Meeker, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Nicollet, Olmsted, Otter Tail, Pine and Polk. Agencies not included in this group will be notified by MNIT@DHS once they are scheduled for the upgrade.
Unborn children should not be entered in SSIS as participants in intakes and Workgroups.
Per Minnesota Child Maltreatment Intake, Screening and Response Path Guidelines:
“Document reports received on unborn children and screen as a child protection report. Screen out these reports with the reason of “Unborn child.” A local agency response may be most appropriate to address concerns regarding a pregnant woman, and in some instances required.
A referral about a woman who is pregnant and using alcohol, marijuana, or controlled substances for nonmedical purposes is a mandated report screened out for a child protection response, and referred to appropriate services. It is not a screened in child maltreatment report because there is no child yet. It is required that an offer of services be made. The best approach is an offer of early intervention for support and services to a pregnant woman before birth. Whether it is through general child welfare, adult services outreach, or the Parent Support Outreach Program, this is an opportunity to engage a woman in addressing her alcohol and other drug use concerns, delivering a healthy baby. Make referrals to culturally specific services that can best address a woman’s needs, when available.”
When entering a report that includes allegation for unborn child, who should not be entered as a participant, workers can use the ‘alleged victim desc’ field instead of the ‘alleged victim’, but be sure to screen out the individual allegation due to being an unborn child. This will avoid the unborn child showing up as needing to be fixed in the Data Integrity Report (from General Reports), “CP Workgroups Created Before Victim is Born”.
For information regarding responding to prenatal exposure, refer to Minnesota’s Best Practice Guide for Responding to Prenatal Exposure to Substance Use.
The annual MNIT mailbox password work has been completed and the interface was enabled Friday, September 2, 2022. This serves as the “all-clear” notification.
This process only changed the Department’s SSIS user accounts for county MN-ITS mailboxes. Agency users have their own user IDs and passwords to access their MN-ITS mailboxes which were not affected by the SSIS password change.
Questions can be directed to the SSIS Help Desk.
