Capacity Grants for Rural and Underserved Communities

DHS Grants, Equity, Access and Research (GEAR) Division has released the first round of Capacity Grants for Rural and Underserved Communities available to home and community-based service providers or organizations.

Applications are due Monday, June 13, 2022. Interested parties can reach out to the GEAR Division Director, Carol Anthony, with questions. GEAR Division will hold a virtual Responder’s Conference at 10 a.m., June 1, 2022. A recording of this event will be available by request.

Temporary staffing help available for residential service providers

Residential service providers with an active COVID-19 outbreak can request short-term emergency staffing if there is a critical shortage at the facility. Organizations that receive assistance will get help from temporary staff for up to 21 days at no cost.

DHS targeted communications to direct support professionals

Please help spread the word. See the full announcement: DHS will be sending announcements targeted to direct support professionals (DSPs) to help address the workforce shortage and to support DSPs in their important work.

Children’s Behavioral Health Summit report now available

In January 2022, DHS and the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet held a four-day Children’s Summit. The 700 participants developed solutions for issues facing the behavioral health care system for young people. The 2022 Children’s Mental Health Summit Summary Report (PDF) including the action plans participants developed is now available online on the Children’s Summit webpage.
