Efforts to identify and resolve performance issues specific to SSIS applications, and MAARC for county and Tribal agencies continue:
- SSIS Help Desk continues to monitor reports related to slowness and performance and monitoring of the Horizon Servers at various times of the day for issues and reports to the appropriate teams if necessary. Daily meetings are held for system health issues, and technical tickets are reviewed twice weekly.
- Infrastructure Issues:
- Oracle19c database updates were completed on 4/09/2022.
- A schedule for Oracle 19c client updates is being working on.
- New Horizon server farm - pilot to statewide conversion project:
- Moved from a pilot to statewide conversion project; performance and user experience has greatly improved.
- 30 agencies have moved to the new environment (some or all users).
- Project completion target: July 1, 2022.
- Two issues week of 4/10
- A Domain Controller issue prevented some workers from being able to login. That issue occurred on Tuesday and was resolved same day.
- Unknown server caused user sessions to freeze and ultimately the server to reboot. This, in turn, caused the (up to 40) users connected to that server to be kicked out of SSIS. We have been working steadily since, backing out changes that had been applied last week to determine the root cause. At this time, the issue has not been determined and has escalated to the Horizon vendor.
- Out of an abundance of caution, we are pausing the migration roll-out of additional agencies to the New Horizon Servers while we investigate and ensure we are able to mitigate this issue.
- Informational/onboarding sessions will continue each week as scheduled but users will not be added at this time.
- SSIS Performance & Stability Workgroup:
- Began on February 11th, and is charged to identify, prioritize, monitor, and oversee work to improve performance at all levels, addressing the immediate issues and then plan for long term system performance management. Meetings are held every other Friday morning, and include local agency, MACSSA staff, MNIT@DHS, and DHS business staff.
- Five meetings have been held (as of the week of 4/10)
Thank you to Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services, Anoka County, and Wadena County for volunteering to pilot SSIS v22.2. Pilot agencies receive weekly phone calls, priority response from the SSIS help desk, and provide application input during the piloting period. Contact Lisa Litchfield for more information on being a pilot agency.
SSIS’s Analysis and Charting will be decommissioned May 25, 2022, with the 22.2 release. This software tool was designed to help agency social workers, supervisors and managers view and utilize child welfare data as well as assess service outcomes and activities related to child welfare.
Agencies are encouraged to utilize data provided by DHS’s Child Safety and Permanency Research & Evaluation team, which includes functionality to view the case level details related to state and federal performance measures on the Minnesota Child Welfare Data Dashboard for your agency.
The Tableau Server Orientation for Local Agencies presentation provides information on utilizing Tableau for child welfare data, including access and who to contact with questions. The Tableau Server Orientation provides information on Tableau functionality.
Please contact the Child Safety and Permanency Research and Analysis Team with any Child Welfare data questions.
