DHS announces All-Inclusive Encounter Rate for Indian Health Service providers for 2022


The federally established All-Inclusive Encounter Rate for Indian Health Service programs has changed to $640 per day effective Jan. 1, 2022.

The Behavioral Health Division will modify and update the encounter rate on all service agreements that are currently eligible to receive the Indian Health Service all-inclusive encounter rate of $640 with the effective date as of Jan. 1, 2022.

Moving forward, please enter the encounter rate of $640 on service agreement lines when servicing Indian Health Service, Medicaid-eligible recipient members for substance use disorder treatment services.

All service agreements will end as of June 30, 2022, and providers are required to bill Minnesota Department of Human Services directly beginning July 1, 2022.
