Implementing the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) involves learning and applying new residential placement requirements and processes and integrating them into practice.
A list of FAQ’s has been compiled to assist with understanding how these new components are to be implemented. Included in the FAQ are some questions and answers that distinguish Family First from the Children’s Mental Health (CMH) Residential Services Path, also known as the Third Path.
CMH Residential Services Path is a service not a placement. A new bulletin and FAQ document will be published soon regarding this new service.

Horizon version 5.5.3 is now available and recommended for agency installation. To determine the version of Horizon being run go to the upper right hand corner of the VMware Horizon Client screen to the question mark with the circle around it.
If an agency has a higher version than 5.5.3 the recommendation is to uninstall the version being run and reinstall version 5.5.3.
Best practice for entering CMH Screening data is to enter data within a month after a screening is done, and to enter any additional missing data as soon as the data is obtained. CMH screenings are connected to grant funding. In order to financially support the continuance of CMH Screening, complete screening records are critical to illustrate the outcomes of CMH Screening.
With the SSIS 22.1 release, additional information is required to be entered in the CMH screening so that accurate data can be collected. The additional information collected in SSIS includes the screening tool, the score of the screening tool, whether a Diagnostic Assessment (DA) referral was made, and if the DA was completed. All of the questions in the CMH screening must be answered in order to be saved. The screen doesn’t finalize allowing information to be changed as needed. For example, if “referred for DA” is yes, but “DA completed” is no, “DA completed” can be changed to yes after the work has been verified and completed.
If the agency does not receive verification the DA was completed or the case is closed before the DA is completed, the answer to the question asking “DA completed” would remain no. Another option is to complete the screening in SSIS once all information is known, such as when the DA is completed.
Additional enhancements are planned for the CMH screening fields in SSIS v22.2. Changes include being able to save the screen without answering every question, as well as reminders, alerts, and data clean up errors.
For more information about the CMH screening, refer to DHS Bulletin #22-53-01.
Questions should be directed to the SSIS Help Desk.
