Dan Pollock Hop Scott ride-a-long

Posted Feb. 24 on the DHS Facebook page

DHS names new director of Community Relations

Helen Ghebre

Longtime DHS employee Helen Ghebre has been named agencywide director of Community Relations, effective March 9.

Ghebre has spent the past 15 years working in the Community Supports Administration, most recently leading the Community Capacity Building Team in the Behavioral Health Division (BHD).

In this role, she engages with multiple stakeholder groups, including county and tribal partners, advocacy organizations, advisory councils, and community organizations, to ensure funding opportunities are responsive to communities disproportionally impacted by behavioral health issues.

“Helen is passionate about creating community led partnerships and collaborations that reflect the values and strengths of communities that have historically been underserved and underrepresented across human services,” Deputy Commissioner Nikki Farago said.

“Her skills in coalition building and effective community engagement, combined with the ability to communicate authentically with various audiences, will be an asset for Community Relations.”
