To maintain certification as a specialized setting for sex trafficked, commercially sexually exploited or at risk youth (ST/CSE/At Risk), facilities must demonstrate that direct contact services staff have met human trafficking training requirements at annual relicensing/recertification (Minn. Stat. § 245A.25, subd. 5 (f)).
This on-demand training is still not available for staff to complete online. On Dec. 1, 2021, the departments’ licensing division notified approved programs that there will be a three month extension for completion of the training from the date it becomes available. All ST/CSE/At Risk certified programs will be contacted and given a link to access training as soon as it is available. It will also be posted on the department’s website.
In addition to completing this required training, facilities must offer human trafficking prevention curriculum for youth in their programs. Facilities that would like to offer the Love 146 Not a Number (www.love146.org/notanumber) trafficking prevention groups are welcome to apply for scholarships for staff to become certified facilitators. Thirty six scholarships have been awarded and applications will be open soon for a second round. The application will be linked on the department’s Safe Harbor website: www.mn.gov/dhs/safe-harbor.
