Efforts to identify and resolve performance issues specific to SSIS applications and MAARC for county and Tribal agencies continue:
- SSIS Help Desk continues to monitor reports related to slowness and performance, as well as Horizon servers at various times of the day for issues. Items of concern are reported to the appropriate teams as necessary. Daily meetings are held to discuss system issues.
- New tracing tools to track system utilization are being considered.
- Piloting of New Horizon server farm continues:
- Scott and Washington Counties are ramping up their current user groups
- Performance and user experience is greatly improved
- Printing issues at Scott County - work on the printing issues is moving forward and a possible solution is being tested
- Planning has begun for future expansion of users to new servers
- Anoka, Big Stone and Freeborn Counties will soon be added to the pilot
- SSIS Performance & Stability Workgroup:
- Began February 11th and is charged to identify, prioritize, monitor, and oversee work to improve performance at all levels, address immediate issues, and plan for long term system performance management. Invitations were extended to county and tribal representatives, MACSSA, and key DHS/MNIT staff for participation.
To be proactive with SSIS performance issues such as slowness and freezing, users are asked to provide as many details and screen shots as possible when reporting to the SSIS Help Desk. Providing timely detailed information will allow quicker investigation and escalation when issues arise.
Use the Reporting SSIS performance questions as a guide when reporting issues to the SSIS Help Desk.
Statewide Release v22.1 is scheduled to occur Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. The SSIS Coffee Talk PowerPoint presentation Statewide Release v22.1 has been posted to the SSIS Resource page.
Additional reference materials from the coffee talk include:
Extreme thank you to v22.1 pilot agencies Becker County (first time) and Freeborn County (sixth time). Their efforts and enthusiasm in piloting are greatly appreciated. Both agencies enjoyed the extra support from SSIS and found piloting a positive experience.
Agencies interested in piloting SSIS v22.2 (May) should contact Lisa Litchfield or Dave Blesener.
Printing issues have been identified when agencies run a Horizon version newer than 5.5.2. If an agency has a higher version the recommendation is to uninstall the version being run and reinstall version 5.5.2.
To determine the Horizon version being run go to the upper right hand corner of the VMWare Client Horizon screen and click the question mark with the circle around it.
A new tutorial, Statewide Case Access, is now available on the SSIS Worker Documentation site. Statewide Case Access provides assigned staff instant access across agency lines. Since March 2008, county and tribal social service agencies have had the ability to electronically request access to a case/workgroup in another agency using SSIS. Statewide Case Access allows an authorized worker the ability to view and/or print information associated with a client(s) in a different agency.
SSIS Grids are a great tool available to SSIS users offering flexible and unique ways to find, manage and organize information in SSIS. Grids can be used to focalize a search, provide a quick way to get information, and as a reporting tool. Data can be exported into other formats, such as Excel, for ease of utilizing tools such as pivot tables and charts.
Join the SSIS Training and SSIS Business Operations teams as they present Grids and General Reports in SSIS, Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Registration is required and will close one hour prior to the event. This session will be recorded and posted for future reference.
Several training opportunities are available to SSIS users. Courses are great for those new to SSIS or those seeking a refresher. Click the topic below for course descriptions, schedules and registration information.
SSIS webinar materials and previous recordings can be found on the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy site.
