Federal waiver approved for county employees to be qualified individuals
The Children’s Bureau notified the Minnesota Department of Human Services that the waiver for county employees to perform the functions of qualified individuals for the purpose of providing assessments of placements in qualified residential treatment programs has been approved. To maintain objectivity in determining the most effective and appropriate placements for children, the approved waiver offers county agencies the following two options for employees to be designated as qualified individuals:
- Designated county employee outside of the child welfare system
- Regional collaborative agreements among counties.
The department will provide information about the process for county agencies to designate county employees, and how to register for the two-day required training for all qualified individuals.
Application deadline approaching: Reimbursement for qualified residential treatment program accreditation costs application due October 30, 2021
Minnesota Department of Human Services approved federal Family First Transition Act funding to support in-state children’s residential treatment providers in meeting accreditation requirements to become certified qualified residential treatment programs (QRTP). Family First Transition Act funds may be used for activities directly associated with implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act.
This one-time funding opportunity reimburses children’s residential service providers for all or a portion of accreditation costs associated with the QRTP certification process. The number of applicants will determine the reimbursement amount. Accreditation fees associated with facilities that are already accredited, licensed are not eligible for reimbursement.
