Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II renewed the national COVID-19 public health emergency period, effective Oct. 23, 2020. For more information, see U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Renewal of public health emergency.
DHS will ensure that people who receive long-term services and supports (LTSS) continue to have coverage and remain eligible for state public programs throughout the COVID-19 national public health emergency period.
Lead agencies must continue to follow the policies and procedures outlined in DHS Bulletin #20-56-06: COVID-19: Participation in LTSS Programs Cannot be Terminated (PDF) until further notice. The bulletin applies to the following LTSS programs:
- Alternative Care (AC)
- Brain Injury (BI-NB and BI-NF) Waiver
- Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI) Waiver
- Community Alternative Care (CAC) Waiver
- Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waiver
- Elderly Waiver (EW).
Lead agencies should also reference the Oct. 7, 2020, eList announcement for additional guidance to maintain people's eligibility for LTSS.
