The Department of Human Services has set June 30, 2020, as the final deadline for study subjects to have their fingerprints and photo taken for background studies submitted before April 6, 2020 when DHS temporarily modified its background studies processes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Your entity is receiving this notice because NETStudy 2.0 indicates that your organization has submitted one or more background study applications prior to April 6, where the study subject has not had their fingerprints and photo taken. These background study applications are still pending in the NETStudy 2.0 system; however, in order to complete the process, individual study subjects are required to submit their fingerprints and photo. DHS has previously extended the deadline on several occasions, and is no longer able to hold these partial applications in the NETStudy 2.0 system. Providers are strongly encouraged to work with study subjects who still need the fingerprint and photo requirements to be completed as soon as possible.
After the June 30, 2020 deadline, any incomplete background study applications will be closed in the NETStudy 2.0 system.
The most up-to-date information on emergency background studies can be found on the DHS background studies COVID-19 update page.

DHS has previously received email inquiries from provider entities regarding background study applications related to this topic and due to the high volume of emails, we are unable to respond to each inquiry.
