This announcement is to notify you that the Indian Health Service has changed the Federally-Established Encounter Rate for Indian Health Service programs to $479.00 per day effective 01/01/20.
Behavioral Health Division/Substance Use Disorder will modify and update the encounter rate on all service agreements that are currently eligible to receive the encounter rate of $479.00 with effective date as of 01.01.20 entered into Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and DHS Claims will re-process all previously submitted claims to pay the difference in last year’s rate and this year’s rate.
Moving forward, please enter the current encounter rate of $479.00 if or when it applies to eligible service(s). This is the rate that must be used when servicing an eligible, Medicaid recipient/client into an Indian Health Service provider record (provider type 51).
