SSIS in-person trainings provide workers with an opportunity to practice skills in an interactive lab setting with our team of SSIS trainers. See the below schedule for a variety of classroom options. These classes cover the fundamentals of SSIS data entry and are appropriate for new workers as well as experienced workers seeking a refresher. Prior to registering for the Child Protection Worker or Adult Protection Worker classes, workers should first complete the SSIS eLearning Essentials 101-106 courses in the previous 12 months. The SSIS Fiscal New Worker Training has no pre-requisites. Register for classes on TrainLink. If you need a reasonable accommodation in order to participate or have questions about the course, please reach out directly to SSIS training lead Eric Kratt.

Enhancement requests are an important part of the relationship between SSIS and the Counties and Tribes. Enhancement requests are items of any size or difficulty that would change or add to the SSIS application.
Priority for enhancement requests are from federal and state law and DHS policy. County and Tribal requests are reviewed and completed as resources become available.
Enhancement requests are sent through the SSIS Help Desk via email or phone calls. They are reviewed by SSIS Operations staff to determine if it is already possible to do what the request is calling for, whether it is a training issue, whether it is a policy issue to decide, or if the request is a general addition or change to the application. Error messages received are not enhancement requests; these are problem (bug) reports.
The most successful enhancement requests include:
- One enhancement request per email or phone call.
- A thorough explanation of what the main problem is. This includes a high level of specific factors. What screens, what fields, what areas, and what issues are arising?
- Send workgroup #’s or person #’s to view examples.
- What problem is occurring at the agency due to the above?
- Is the request for the agency or does it apply to multiple or statewide agencies?
- Does it apply to just SSIS?
- What, ultimately, does the agency want to have happen? This is not designing the application, it is a request for an ultimate end e.g., the agency would like to be able to have the capability to report on this data.
- How would the change impact SSIS users in the agency?
- What problem is it causing in the agency, and/or what does the agency want to have as an outcome? For example, they would like to decrease worker’s efforts in a particular area.
Once the enhancement request is received at the Help Desk, it is forwarded to the SSIS Change Coordinator for review. The Change Coordinator may contact the agency with questions or for additional information before further processing the enhancement request.
We are working on development of a process with county and tribal representatives to review and prioritize enhancement requests.
Statewide case access to view another agency’s client workgroup is a widely used feature in SSIS. Once a worker has requested access through Request Access, an SSIS Reminder displays in Reminders and Alerts. Clicking on this Reminder, accessing the Action menu and selecting View Workgroup Detail is a quick way to access the workgroup. However, if the Reminder is deleted, it can seem that the worker has lost direct access to the log on screen of the other agency.
The other way to request statewide workgroup access is to return to a Person Search and access SWNDX. Click the client’s name in the grid and select View State Detail. When SWNDX displays, click on the Workgroups tab and expand the list of agencies that the client had been cleared to. Click on the workgroup you had originally requested access to. Select Action and then View Workgroup. The log on screen for the other agency displays. Log on and view the information as needed.
The document setup entry fields at times need to be added or updated. Or, information entered on a client has changed but doesn’t display accurately on the document setup. SSIS has built in visual reminders to assist you with updating this information and including it in your document.

The next SSIS Repository upload will be July 25, 2019 for agencies that are not yet centralized.
Note: Agencies no longer need to email the DHS Help Desk or other MNIT staff when monthly uploads have been completed. If an upload is not completed by the deadline, MNIT staff will reach out individually.
