New SSIS adult maltreatment module available

A new SSIS adult maltreatment module has been posted on CountyLink for worker reference. This module identifies needed steps to complete Adult Protection Services entries in SSIS during the (1) Adult Protection Services Intake Workgroup; (2) Adult Protection Services Assessment Workgroups; and (3) Transfer to Adult Protection Services Case Management or another Adult Services Workgroup.

Dates available for SSIS training

SSIS in-person trainings have been scheduled for the first half of 2019 and many spots are are still available. See the schedule below. These classes cover the fundamentals of SSIS data entry and are appropriate for new workers as well as experienced workers seeking a refresher. Prior to registering for the Child Protection Worker or Adult Protection Worker classes, workers must complete the SSIS eLearning Essentials 101-106  courses in the previous 12 months. The SSIS Fiscal New Worker Training has no pre-requisites. Register for classes on TrainLink.

Job opening: Business Readiness Specialist

The Children and Family Services Business Readiness Unit at DHS has posted an open position for a Human Services Program Representative 2: Business Readiness Specialist.

The person in this role  will serve as the business systems modernization Business Readiness Specialist for the Children and Family Services Division focusing on Child safety and Permanency programs. They will be responsible for assisting in the development of proposals to simplify business processes across multiple state and federal programs. With this position you will have the opportunity to help restructure key elements of the Human Services delivery system in Minnesota for the next generation. You will have the opportunity to work in a positive team environment, identifying both the positive attributes of the current human services delivery model as well as identifying and pursuing concrete opportunities for improvements through the upcoming system modernization efforts. Minimum qualifications include three (3) years of advanced professional experience working with social service programs, policies and delivery systems and their effect on recipients.

Become a pilot agency for SSIS V19.2

SSIS is currently seeking two to three pilot agencies for the version 19.2 release. Both centralized and non-centralized agencies are eligible to volunteer. Pilot agencies receive weekly phone calls, priority help desk calls, and input into the application during the piloting period.

Items to be included in V19.2:

  • New business rules for ICWA related screens (data clean-up)
  • New Documents
  • Updates to Adult Maltreatment Report
  • Child Foster Care Report update
  • Updates to General Reports

The pilot begins May 1 and runs through statewide release on May 28 and May 29. Contact Lisa Litchfield if you are interested in this opportunity.


Reminder: Complete the SSIS user survey by April 19th

The Child Safety and Permanency Division at the Minnesota Department of Human Services (the department) is interested in learning more about the support frontline staff, case aides, supervisors and mentors need when learning and using the Social Service Information System (SSIS). Please take 10–15 minutes to complete the survey below. If you have already completed this survey, ignore this notice. Your response will help DHS better understand these needs so that we can provide better SSIS support and training. The survey is voluntary and your answers will remain anonymous. Information from the survey will be used to support the design of the SSIS mentor program and SSIS training and will only be reported in aggregate form. Thank you!

SSIS Tip: Bulk inactivate old service arrangements

Old service arrangements may be cleaned up by inactivating them. To inactivate multiple service arrangements:

  1. In the Service Arrangements Search grid, multi-select the service arrangements you wish to inactivate.
  2. Select Inactivate Service Arrangement in the Action menu.
  3. A pop-up window will appear with the message Inactivate Service Arrangement? This action sets the “Status to “Inactive/Payments” and no additional payments can be made. Do you wish to continue? Select “Yes to All”
  4. You may also re-activate service arrangements by selecting Activate Service Arrangement in the Action menu.

SSIS Repository upload

The next SSIS Repository upload will be April 25, 2019 for agencies that are not yet centralized.

Note: Agencies no longer need to email the DHS Help Desk or other MNIT staff when monthly uploads have been completed. If an upload is not completed by the deadline, MNIT staff will reach out individually.
