New ICWA Qualified Expert Witness screen in SSIS V19.1

SSIS V19.1 state-wide release begins Feb. 26 and includes a new ICWA Qualified Expert Witness (QEW) screen in the Court Actions folder. Agencies should begin recording ICWA Eligibility/Determinations, MIFPA Notices, Tribal Court Transfers, Court Proceedings, QEW, and ICWA Placement and Adoptive Placement Preferences in SSIS. All children entering child welfare services require an ICWA Eligibility Determination beginning Jan. 1, 2019. In addition to using the ICWA folder in SSIS, continue to document case notes and other steps you have taken to work with families and follow ICWA/MIFPA requirements. Training resources are located on the SSIS Worker Documentation page under the ICWA/MIFPA header.

Changes to the RTF Editor save functionality in SSIS V19.1

Starting in SSIS V19.1, the “Save” button will be removed from the RTF Editor since it does not save the text within the opened RTF Editor. To save changes within an RTF document, close out of the RTF Editor, click the Action menu and select Save. You may also type a case note, description of need, etc., without opening the RTF Editor. The “Save As” button will remain to save documents to your local agency network.

The RTF Editor is found in Intake>Description of Need, Adult and Child Maltreatment Reports>Description of Incident, Case Notes/Time Notes, State Service Plans–editor boxes, MAPCY–editor boxes, Northstar Adoption and Kinship Assistance Eligibility Determination–editor boxes, and state Documents.
