First Episode Psychosis (FEP) pilot services for adolescents and young adults are now available in northeastern Minnesota.
Human Development Center in Duluth will recruit and work with individuals and families experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The Human Development Center joins Hennepin Health and M Health (University of Minnesota Psychiatry) in offering early intervention and intensive treatment to persons who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing FEP.
Reducing the time it takes for a person experiencing psychosis to get treatment is important because early treatment often means a successful recovery. FEP includes medication management, psychoeducation for the individual and family, employment supports, education supports, cognitive behavioral approaches, social skills training, crisis planning, stress management, case management, and peer support.
The FEP pilot runs for 2-years, from April 2018 until March 2020. The program is State funded.
To inquire about services for yourself or a family member, please contact HDC at 218.302.8734 and ask for the First Episode Psychosis Program.
