Mentor Tip #1: Reset worker passwords

County and Tribal SSIS Admin users should reset the expired or forgotten passwords of their agency’s SSIS workers and may do so without the assistance of the SSIS help desk. This requires the Admin user to have the System Administrator function in their SSIS role. SSIS recommends that more than one agency SSIS Admin user be assigned this function and for those users to be the first point of contact for all SSIS workers at their agency when a password reset is needed.

To reset passwords as an SSIS Admin user:

For non-Centralized agencies:

1.    Ask the worker to log off of SSIS.

2.    Open SSIS Admin and select Lists>User Search.

3.    Search by name – keep “Active workers only” box checked.

4.    On the User Detail tab, click the Password button. Enter a new password and verify the new password. Click OK.

5.    Ask the worker to log on to SSIS with the password you just created.

6.    The worker should select File>Change Password to create a new, confidential password.

For Centralized agencies:

1.    Open SSIS Admin and select Lists>User Search.

2.    Search by name – keep “Active workers only” box checked.

3.    On the User Detail tab, click the Credentials button.

4.    Check that the worker’s email address is correct. This is the email their password reset information is sent to.

5.    Click Action button and select Reset Password.

6.    Select Reset Password Option.

7.    A message box pops up stating an email message has been sent to the user.

8.    The worker will receive a secure email to reset their password.

9.    The worker needs follow the instructions in the email to obtain a one-time numerical passcode.

10. Once the numerical passcode is entered, the email opens in a webpage to get the temporary password to log in to SSIS.

11.  The worker can enter the temporary password into Citrix or VMware. If single sign on is used, the user will receive a message that the password has expired and they need to create a new password. If single sign-on is not used, the temporary password will be used again to log in to SSIS, and the user will need to create a new password when they are logged in.

Note: Create a password that is a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. Do not use your first or last name as part of the centralized password otherwise your password between Citrix or VMware and SSIS will not sync.

SSIS Mentor Tip #2: When do I use Revise MAPCY versus Copy MAPCY?

The Revise MAPCY is used to modify the needs or indicators of an existing assessment while maintaining the same effective date. This option would be used during an appeal or when SSIS templates change.

The Copy MAPCY option is used to copy the needs and indicators from a previous assessment to a new assessment. This is useful for completing a reassessment or when a child’s placement changes and there are only minor changes to make.
