MAARC Issue Identified and Fixed

An error in the Adult Protection Mandatory Reporter web application into MAARC has been identified and fixed. A mandated reporter using the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC) web form reported to DHS staff that their choice indicating an alleged victim’s disability was not captured correctly. The problem only impacted the disabilities entered. The web reporting form is only used by mandated reporters and is not used by the general public. DHS reported this problem to MN.IT services on the same day it was discovered. MN.IT’s analysis of the problem showed it was a program mapping error between what the reporter entered as the vulnerable adult’s disabilities and what was included in the adult maltreatment report referred to the lead investigative agency.

The error was fixed on April 11, 2018. The impact to local agencies should be minimal. Your agency has, or will soon have, a copy of an Excel spreadsheet identifying adult maltreatment reports that may have been affected. Specifics regarding the mapping error for lead investigative agencies was included in the notifying email.

Change to Child Welfare Foundations Training Requirements

Requirements have been adjusted for upcoming Child Welfare Foundations Training (CWFT) cohorts. Beginning with Cohort 37, the SSIS Child Protection Worker (CPW) Course will be encouraged, but no longer required to complete the CWFT series. The Online SSIS Essentials Courses 101 through 106 will remain a requirement.

See the SSIS Child Protection Worker Training page for the 2018 course schedule and registration instructions. Registration is also open for the SSIS Adult Protection Worker Training.

Change to SSIS Fiscal New Worker Training

Beginning immediately, the SSIS Fiscal New Worker Training will be converted from a two-day course to a one-day course. This modified course will be more narrowly focused on information pertinent to new workers. The training schedule and registration information can be found on the SSIS Fiscal New Worker Training page.

The SSIS training staff is also working on new web-based learning tools that will cover higher-level fiscal functions within the SSIS application.
