Connect 700 is an alternative path
to gainful employment for individuals with
disabilities that may experience barriers in competitive hiring
processes. The Connect
700 program allows
individuals with certain disabilities the opportunity to perform work
on the job
to demonstrate their
qualifications in a pre-probationary status. This trial-work opportunity will be provided
as an alternative to the traditional,
competitive process.
The pre-probationary program
allows hiring managers
up to 700 hours to assess
a candidate’s ability
to perform work on the job with or without
accommodations.
WHAT
ARE
THE BENEFITS OF CONNECT
700?
-
Improve the State’s workforce representation of people with disabilities.
- Reduce the unemployment and underemployment rates of people with disabilities in Minnesota.
-
Provides hiring managers access to an underutilized talent pool.
-
Accelerates the hiring process for both hiring managers and job seekers.
-
Gives managers a longer timeframe to assess candidates and make better informed hiring decisions.
- On-the-job demonstration programs traditionally have low turnover rates.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

seek employment with the State of Minnesota, whom:
-
Meet the minimum qualifications for the position;
-
Have a disability that may inhibit them from demonstrating their skills and abilities in standard competitive hiring processes;
