Substance use disorder (SUD) reform was passed during the 2017 legislative session. Highlights of the reform package include moving the standards for substance use disorder treatment programs to statute and changing some standards to increase client-centered services, establishing a process for direct access to treatment via comprehensive assessment; a direction to seek federal approval to include comprehensive assessment, care coordination, peer support, and withdrawal management in the state’s Medicaid benefit set, and permitting direct reimbursement for SUD services provided by appropriately credentialed professionals.
In an effort to provide ongoing communication about SUD reform, on August 3, 2017 the Department of Human Services, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division and Licensing Division began hosting ongoing, bi-weekly, one hour WebEx broadcasts from 11:30-12:30 for partners and providers to provide information about SUD reform. The next WebEx is on Location of Service-Continuation of the Conversation. These are broadcast only, and will be ongoing to implement the reform. We will send an e-memo with WebEx login information prior to each WebEx.

These materials provide basic information that is helpful to understand reform and its implications. Broadcasts will allow participants to submit questions for clarification if what is presented is unclear, although complex or situation-specific questions that are submitted will be responded to through frequently updated FAQs and will be used to inform future WebEx content.
