Description

This training will explore who we are and what we do in the DHS Licensing, Central Intake Unit. A comprehensive overview will guide participants through both the Intake and Assessment process in Central Intake, as well as our role within the Office of Inspector General, our work with DHS licensed programs, and our collaboration with other lead agencies.

We will walk participants through the ever complicated process of how we determine jurisdiction for maltreatment reports involving children and vulnerable adults. This will include jurisdiction for reports involving dually licensed programs, programs providing multiple services, adults living in Child Foster Care, PCA related issues, and reports involving HCBS licensed providers. We will dig into billing codes and what they mean; explore licensed and unlicensed services; discuss coordination with Adult/Child Protection, Law Enforcement, and OHFC; examine the importance of “shared comments;” and problem solve some of the unique situations we encounter on a daily basis.

Finally, we will explore some interesting data – including how many reports we process and what we do with them; explore the online reporting tool and how it has impacted our work; and review resources for improved collaboration with DHS - Central Intake.
