PURPOSE: Inform lead agencies and waiver service providers of a December update to the Rate Management System and what they need to do before and after the changes

DHS will update the Rates Management System (RMS) on Dec. 16, 2016. The new release will include updates to the banding file, which will affect 2016 rate calculations.
To be included on the 2017 banding file, lead agencies must:
- Complete all 2016 RMS calculations by Dec. 9, 2016.
- Make sure all individual service authorizations are in “approved” status in MMIS on Dec. 9, 2016.
Please wait for our "all-clear" message that the Dec. 16, 2016, release is complete before you:
- Use RMS to determine 2017 rates
- Enter 2017 service authorizations into MMIS.
NOTE: If a service is not in “approved” status in MMIS, the system will not include it in the RMS banding file.
