MDHR is looking to fill multiple positions within the Department. Anyone interested in any of the following positions can view full position descriptions here by searching the Job ID of each position.
Information Officer 2 - (Job ID: 8394)
This position exists to educate Minnesotans about their rights and responsibilities under the Human Rights Act and to inform Minnesotans about the functions, goals, and achievements of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, English or closely related field.
- Knowledge of journalistic principles and practices related to writing and editing.
- Knowledge of marketing and communications principles and strategies sufficient to implement effective marketing.
- Experience with design and web software.
- Experience in event planning.
- Strong working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, InDesign,
- Photoshop or other related software.
- Ability to use social media for communication purposes.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact with employee personnel and stakeholders in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner.
- Must work well within a team, within a demanding public environment, and under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines.

Office & Administrative Specialist Intermediate - (Job ID: 8359)
This position exists to provide administrative and technical support to the intake department, staff, and supervisor. The person in this position will also maintain materials, provide word processing, and provide data processing.
Work will also include receiving, scanning, and processing the incoming intake and case processing mail and correspondences. This position will also provide internal customers with information, assistance and services as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- English (reading, writing, and speaking) sufficient to answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages; communicate effectively with internal and external customers; write, prepare, and edit materials, using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.
- Customer services skills sufficient to identify each customer's needs, meet quality standards for services, and evaluate customer satisfaction. Must be able to answer phones, refer calls, and greet visitors with courtesy and respect.
- Data entry skills sufficient to create, enter, and process data and information records.
- Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy.
- Word processing skills sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, including spreadsheets, tables, charts, and graphs.
