Community Partner Updates

On September 9th at 8:30 a.m., our Community Partner & SSB Staff are invited to our next Drop In Café.

While we typically do not have an agenda, some Community Partners have programing available that you may want to learn about. Vanward Consulting sponsors Lean In and Lean In Prep Programs. Registration for these programs is open and accepting applications. Vanward's Director Gary Horton will share information on the benefits of this program and explain who is eligible to enroll. Here are flyers about Lean In and Lean In Prep.

We will also hear from Envision Workforce Pathways, formerly the College Success Program, which provides mentorship focused on guided college and career exploration for the community we serve.

Background Checks Reminder

It is a contractual obligation that businesses submit annual Criminal Background Checks by August 1st. If you have not submitted proof that you as the owner and/or your employees passed a BCA check, we suggest you complete the requirement and send the results or completed form to ssbcontracts.deed@state.mn.us

Insurance Requirements

Many of our Community Partners have submitted copies of their current insurance. We have started a new tracking system and would appreciate you submitting a current copy of your business's insurance. If you have not done so yet, please send a copy to: ssbcontracts.deed@state.mn.us

State Services for the Blind provides tools and training for employment, living independently, and accessing print. We assist Minnesotans who are blind, DeafBlind, experiencing vision loss, or have difficulty accessing the printed word.

The Minnesota State Services for the Blind Vocational Rehabilitation program receives 78.69 percent of its funding through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. For federal fiscal year 2024, the total amount of grant funds awarded were $10,410,449. The remaining 21.3 percent of the costs ($2,817,568) were funded by Minnesota state appropriations.
