DEED’s Office of Small Business and Innovation is proud to provide resources and support to the small businesses making a big impact on Minnesota’s economy. Our office serves startups, small businesses and entrepreneurs and includes:
OSBI released its 2024 End-of-Year Report, which outlined its accomplishments in improving connectivity, capacity and access to capital for small business owners. Together our divisions deployed more than $230 million in funding to startups, small businesses and organizations supporting small businesses. OSBI also provided 13,000 entrepreneurs and businesses with support and assisted in the creation or retention of more than 18,000 jobs.

Black Entrepreneurs Day at the Capitol - Feb. 3
Black Entrepreneurs Day at the State Capitol is an opportunity for Black business owners to lobby their legislators for access to funding, resources and services. The event will begin with a rally in the rotunda, followed by meetings with representatives.

LegalCORPS Workshops and Resources
LegalCORPS provides free legal services to small businesses, startups and nonprofits that can’t afford private legal counsel. From business law clinics to entity formation to intellectual property advice and contract review, LegalCORPS connects entrepreneurs with volunteer attorneys to address a wide range of legal needs.
