Twin Cities Startup Week kicks off in just a few days! Launch Minnesota and DEED are excited to once again offer an open house-style event that will help local innovators connect with the people and resources needed to grow their businesses.

Applications Open for Startup Showcase

The Launch Minnesota Startup Showcase offers local high-tech companies the opportunity to pitch their business to investors from across the country. This invite-only event for startups and investors creates new connections and opportunities for investment. Up to 10 startups will be selected by Launch MN and its community partners to pitch at this event.

The event is Wednesday, November 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Launch Minnesota will begin accepting applications from September 30 through October 14 at 11:59 p.m. If you are interested in participating, please email your pitch deck to launchminnesota@state.mn.us during the application window.


StartMN Think Tank

Calling all founders! Is there a challenge you're currently wrestling with? Bring it to the Twin Cities Business StartMN Think Tank for real-time advice from experts who've been there. Participating startups will gain exposure to the business community, get profiled by TCB Mag and have a chance to win prize money and/or consulting services. The application deadline is Friday, September 13.

Free Value Proposition Courses - September & October

The University of Minnesota’s Value Proposition Design Courses offer valuable business education and insights for pre-launch and early-stage technology entrepreneurs. Participants utilize Lean Startup tools and receive feedback from instructors experienced in science and technology entrepreneurship. These classes are available at no cost to participants thanks to grant funding from Launch Minnesota.

The five-week Value Proposition Design Online Certificate Course will begin September 26. The four-week Value Proposition webinar will start on October 21.

Small Business Resource Fair

The Neighborhood Development Center and Stearns Bank invite entrepreneurs to visit the Small Business Resource Fair at Midtown Global Market on Thursday, September 19. DEED’s Office of Small Business and Innovation will be in attendance along with the Small Business Team at the City of Minneapolis, along with other entrepreneurial support organizations. Visit this event to expand your knowledge of local small business resources!

Vote for the Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota 

The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce is hosting a bracket-style competition to decide the "Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota." Contenders include SPAM, Red Wing Boots, Scotch Tape and more. The second round of voting opened on Monday, September 9 and will conclude Sunday, September 15 at 11:59 p.m.

The Southeast MN Small Business Development Center is offering a series of community celebrations and business workshops in Spanish to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
