Launch MN Grantee Receives MN Cup Grand Prize

Carba, a Minneapolis-based startup developing a product for “permanent carbon removal,” took home the grand prize at the MN Cup grand finale last month. The company, which has also received grant funding from Launch Minnesota, is commercializing a process that converts plant waste carbon dioxide into solid carbon and sequesters it underground.

Carba was one of nine finalists selected to pitch at MN Cup’s final event of the season. The competition began in May with 90 companies across MN Cup’s nine divisions. This year was one of the most diverse fields of the competition’s history with 43% of the startups led by women and 38% headed by entrepreneurs of color. Additionally, 31% of entrants were from Greater Minnesota.
