More families are eligible for lower-cost health insurance through MNsure

A change in a federal rule has fixed what is commonly called the “family glitch” – a situation where the cost of adding family coverage to an employee’s health plan was unaffordable, yet the family members couldn’t access premium tax credits through MNsure to lower the cost of their health insurance.

Starting with plan year 2023, if your employer-sponsored insurance is affordable for you but it’s not for your family members, they could be newly eligible for financial help through MNsure, even if they weren’t eligible before.
