Appointments are offered by CareerForce specialists. You might discuss ways to fine tune your networking strategy, update your resume or explore career opportunities that match your interests, skills and experience.

CareerForce Workshops and Events

  • Career Search for Veterans:   April 4, 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM - Meet weekly with other military veterans - get support, advice, referrals and more! Must be a Veteran of the US Armed Forces.
  • Job Search Over 50 : April 5, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM - This workshop focuses on practical, proven advice for workers over 50 looking to resume an established career or try something brand new! 
  • Resume Writing Workshop: April 6 ,1:00 PM - 2:30 PM  - Craft a resume that will get you noticed. Learn best practices for creating a resume that meets the specific requirements of a position and find out what type of resume may be best for you.
  • New Leaf Online: April 13, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM - This workshop provides tailored information for job seekers who have a criminal record and are looking for work.
  • In-Person: Hiring Event with Anoka County, Wednesday, April 6, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Meet companies at CareerForce Blaine, 1201 89th Avenue – 2nd Floor, Blaine, such as  Doherty Staffing Solutions, FedEx Ground, Idc Automatic, MN Department of Transportation, ResCare Community Living, and many more!
  • Interview Skills Workshop: April 20 ,1:00 PM - 2:30 PM - Approach your next interview with increased confidence. Learn how to answer challenging interview questions and gain frameworks to structure your response during the interview.

Thursday Online Job Club Schedule and More Detail

  • Thursday, April 7  9:00-11:00 AM  - Advanced LinkedIn Techniques for Job Hunting: Discuss this with supportive job seekers and coach. Register in advance and the link will be sent to you.

  • Thursday, April 14  9:00-11:00 AM - Inter-Generational Issues in the Workplace: How to relate to co-workers not of the same generation as you. Register in advance and link will be sent.
  • Thursday, April 21  9:00-11:00 AM - My Best Skillsets: Determine what labels you can give your abilities to explain to hiring managers what you can do.  
  • Thursday, April 28  9:00-11:00 AM - Resilience:  In job transition and back at the workplace, ability to bounce back from adversity is a vital life skill. Register in advance and link will be sent.

If you have been laid off (or notified that a layoff is coming) through no fault of your own, we offer services at no cost that focus on preparing you to find a suitable new job.

Our Dislocated Worker Program services are designed to help workers who have been laid off get back to work as quickly as possible through services like:

  • Career planning and counseling
  • Counselor-approved training
  • Job search and placement services
  • Limited funds for support services

Minneapolis Teen Job Fair - April 30

The 2022 Minneapolis Teen Job Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Minneapolis Park & Recreation building, located at 2117 West River Rd North in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Park & Rec Board - Park Programs Free at 17 Locations

All youth programs and sports are free beginning this summer at 17 Minneapolis parks and facilities

Registration fees have been eliminated for all youth programs, activities and sports leagues based at select Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) parks, recreation centers and facilities.

This new policy applies to any Minneapolis resident ages 17 and under signing up for any activity at one of 17 MRPB sites. It begins with the start of summer youth program registration and will continue through at least the end of 2022.

Metro Transit - Transit Assistance Program

  • The Transit Assistance Program (TAP) allows eligible riders to pay $1 fares for their trips. The program was created to make public transit more affordable. Individuals can enroll in person, online or by mail.

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Development Board. Our programs:

Career Pathways Trainings offer job seekers free or low-cost, accelerated trainings that prepare them for careers in high demand job sectors including Healthcare, IT, Public Safety and the Trades.

Minneapolis Works - Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.

WIOA Adult - Employment and training services to eligible adults 18 and over who are looking to gain skills and employment in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction or administrative services.

Minneapolis Youth Works - Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.

Dislocated Worker Program - Comprehensive services for those who have lost their job through no fault of their own for adult ages 18 and older.
