What are you doing for Manufacturing Month?

October is Manufacturing Month with CareerForce logo

Now is the time to make sure local employers, educators, students, job seekers and community leaders are engaged for Manufacturing Month in October!

Did you know that 2,300 new manufacturing jobs were added in Minnesota in August? That job growth is another promising sign in an industry with many employment opportunities. Minnesota manufacturers could likely continue adding new jobs for some time - if there were enough workers to fill them.

Manufacturing Month is a time to raise awareness about all the great employment opportunities in this critically important industry.

Also make sure to check out our events listing which includes a link to the Statewide Tour of Manufacturing - plus many hiring events, like this one:

We've had several requests from staff and partners for the fillable local proclamation template. We encourage you to share this with community leaders in your area.

Have questions about how to get involved - or get local employers or educators involved - in Manufacturing Month activities in your area? Contact your regional Workforce Strategy Consultant.

Tell your local employers about Workforce Wednesday

October 6

11am - noon

Topic: Manufacturing in Minnesota: Diversifying your Workforce

Join DEED Commissioner Steve Grove and the Workforce Strategy Consultant team for a discussion about reaching underutilized talent pools to fill manufacturing positions, getting the word out about employment opportunities in the field and what working in the sector is really like today. Currently, the manufacturing workforce in Minnesota is 70% male and 83% white. Those demographic statistics don't match the make up of Minnesota's labor force – and that means manufacturers can do more to reach potential workers. This virtual meeting will focus on highlighting proven strategies to build talent pipelines, hearing and sharing best practices, and networking with other Minnesota employers about diversifying your workforce.

Easier registration is back - it shouldn't take more than a minute!
