AmeriCorps Opportunity - Apply by July 7
AmeriCorps is Hiring for Positions Starting in July Including a new Emerging Educator Program! Minnesota Reading Corps is now offering a new summer start date option for tutors, and a brand new position with a focus for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in education!! This position is part of a new initiative of Reading Corps, called the Emerging Educators. In addition to being a tutor at a school in their community, we will provide Emerging Educator members with explicit educational leadership development and support to help put them on the pathway to becoming a licensed teacher. We are accepting applications now through July 7th, and positions are filling fast!!
Emerging Educator Position - July 26th through June of 2022
Benefits include:
- Stable, Full-Time Service (35 hours a week)
- $835.00 every two weeks
- $4,336.50 as an Education Award when you complete the program successfully

What are Dislocated Worker Services?
Dislocated Worker services are designed to help people who have been laid off through no fault of their own get back to work as quickly as possible. Sometimes people have barriers to finding employment quickly. These barriers to employment can include a change in demand for your previous occupation, such as we have seen for certain occupations during COVID-19, or other challenges to finding work.
Services for eligible people can include:
- Career planning and counseling
- Job search assistance
- Connections to employers hiring now
- Counselor-approved training
- Other support services
July Dislocated Worker Schedule
Sign up to be virtually prescreened and receive information via email, phone and/or Skype about the Dislocated Worker Program, eligibility criteria, process and how it helps job seekers get back to work.

Free COVID-19 Vaccination Sites
Phyllis Wheatley Community Center, 1301 10th Ave. N. 5:30-9 p.m. Friday, July 2, July 16
Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 Second Ave. S. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekends Visit the State’s COVID-19 testing webpage to register.
Native American Community Clinic, 1213 E. Franklin Ave. 2 p.m. Tuesdays Appointments required: Call 612-872-8086 to schedule an appointment.
Southside Community Health Services, 324 E. 35th St. 2-3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays Appointments required: Call 612-821-3548 to schedule an appointment. You can expect to get your test results in about two-three business days. Same day testing can be done for health care workers, first responders and essential workers.
Brooklyn Park Starlight Center 11 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. weekends. Visit the State’s COVID-19 testing webpage to register.
Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport 7 a.m.-7 p.m. seven days a week. Visit the State’s COVID-19 testing webpage to register.

IT Core Skills - starts July 12
- Free, online 12-week class; Participants must be 18+ and need no experience in tech.
- Designed for job seekers with an interest in tech but who may not have the required 10th grade reading/math skills that are needed for most other tech trainings.
- The class is Monday-Friday from 9am – 1pm.
- Participants who don’t have computers/internet access can receive support in getting those for training.

Hired - Medical Call Center & Office Administration - starts July 19
- Training is 6 weeks and free to eligible participants with the benefit of gaining industry knowledge, new job skills, certificates, and connections to employers in the metro.
- Medical Call Center graduates have found success in call center/patient scheduler positions with Fairview and Allina
- Office Administration graduates have found success in admin positions with U of M and State of MN

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training
City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Development Board. Our programs:
Career Pathways Trainings offer job seekers free or low-cost, accelerated trainings that prepare them for careers in high demand job sectors including Healthcare, IT, Public Safety and the Trades.
Minneapolis Works - Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.
WIOA Adult - Employment and training services to eligible adults 18 and over who are looking to gain skills and employment in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction or administrative services.
Minneapolis Youth Works - Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.
Dislocated Worker Program - Comprehensive services for those who have lost their job through no fault of their own for adult ages 18 and older.
