DEED Labor Market Information Tools for Job Seekers

Career & Education Explorer (CEE)

  • What kinds of jobs can I do? And where can I get the education I need? The Career and Education Explorer lets you explore a wide range of occupations and related education in a single easy-to-use online tool. 

Career Pathways

  • The Career Pathways tool connects occupational data with educational programming from the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State Career Wheel, displaying career fields, clusters, and pathways. The primary goal of this dashboard is to help students and jobseekers understand how their educational path matches employment opportunities, and to inform education curriculum, initiatives, and programming to labor market realities. 

Employment Outlook (EO)

  • The Employment Outlook data tool shows one-year and ten-year projections of employment growth or decline by occupation and industry for Minnesota's regions, statewide, and for the U.S. You can use the Employment Outlook tool to make informed long-term education and career decisions

Graduate Employment Outcomes (GEO)

  • The Graduate Employment Outcomes tool shows how many recent Minnesota graduates found jobs after graduation, with a detailed breakdown of the median wages earned and the top industries where graduates found jobs. You can search by year, location, award type, institution type, and instructional program - with data available for every college and university in the state.

Job Vacancy Survey (JVS)

  • The Job Vacancy Survey data tool shows the number of job openings, typical wage offers, and typical education requirements by occupation and industry, by region and statewide. You can learn more about current demand for jobs and what to expect for wages in the marketplace.

Occupational Employment & Wage Statistics (OEWS)

  • The Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) data tool shows employment and typical wages by occupation and region in Minnesota. This information can help employers benchmark wages and can help jobseekers and students explore careers. 

Occupations in Demand (OID)

  • The Occupations in Demand tool allows you to find out what jobs are in high demand in each region of the state. The typical wage, long-term employment outlook, training (or degree) required and schools that offer training programs for each occupation are also listed.

Monthly Economic Update Videos

  • In addition, our Regional Analysts have created a set of monthly Economic Update videos for every planning region in the state, providing updated information and local insights to explain recent economic trends.

Dislocated Worker Information Sessions

What are Dislocated Worker Services?

Dislocated Worker services are designed to help people who have been laid off through no fault of their own get back to work as quickly as possible. Sometimes people have barriers to finding employment quickly. These barriers to employment can include a change in demand for your previous occupation, such as we have seen for certain occupations during COVID-19, or other challenges to finding work. 

Services for eligible people can include: 

  • Career planning and counseling 
  • Job search assistance 
  • Connections to employers hiring now 
  • Counselor-approved training 
  • Other support services

Sign up to be virtually prescreened and receive information via email, phone and/or Skype about the Dislocated Worker Program, eligibility criteria, process and how it helps job seekers get back to work.

NorthPoint Announces COVID Vaccines to Everyone Ages 12 and Up!

NorthPoint has an exciting update on the COVID vaccine rollout. We are now vaccinating everyone 12 years old and up! The Pfizer vaccine is available to children 12-17 and adults 18 and up, and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available to adults 18 and up.

The vaccine is available at no cost, and individuals do not have to be patients at NorthPoint to receive the vaccine here!

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Development Board. Our programs:

Career Pathways Trainings offer job seekers free or low-cost, accelerated trainings that prepare them for careers in high demand job sectors including Healthcare, IT, Public Safety and the Trades.

Minneapolis Works - Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.

WIOA Adult - Employment and training services to eligible adults 18 and over who are looking to gain skills and employment in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction or administrative services.

Minneapolis Youth Works - Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.
