Minneapolis Public Works Job Openings

Minneapolis Public Works positions will be open with an application deadline of May 23, 2021.  Each position has multiple vacancies.

 Public Works Service Workers I:

  • Starting rate $25.74
  • 18 Years of age by May 23, 2021.
  • High school Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class B CDL with No Air Brake Restrictions
  • One (1) year experience performing material handling or manual labor in a similar environment including operation of construction equipment.

Public Works Service Workers II:

  • Starting Rate $31.47
  • 18 Years of age by May 23, 2021.
  • High school Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class B CDL with No Air Brake Restrictions
  •  One (1) year of experience (within the last five (5) years) and the ability to operate 2 of 5 preselected pieces of equipment.

Dislocated Worker Information Sessions

What are Dislocated Worker Services?

Dislocated Worker services are designed to help people who have been laid off through no fault of their own get back to work as quickly as possible. Sometimes people have barriers to finding employment quickly. These barriers to employment can include a change in demand for your previous occupation, such as we have seen for certain occupations during COVID-19, or other challenges to finding work. 

Services for eligible people can include: 

  • Career planning and counseling 
  • Job search assistance 
  • Connections to employers hiring now 
  • Counselor-approved training 
  • Other support services

May Dislocated Worker Schedule

Sign up to be virtually prescreened and receive information via email, phone and/or Skype about the Dislocated Worker Program, eligibility criteria, process and how it helps job seekers get back to work.

Minnesota Housing is pleased to announce that RentHelpMN is now open and accepting applications. RentHelpMN makes it possible for eligible renters to get caught up on overdue rent and utilities dating back to March 13, 2020. It also makes provisions for those at risk of falling behind on rent payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Development Board. Our programs:

Career Pathways Trainings offer job seekers free or low-cost, accelerated trainings that prepare them for careers in high demand job sectors including Healthcare, IT, Public Safety and the Trades.

Minneapolis Works - Assistance finding a job for low-income, Minneapolis residents ages 18 and older.

WIOA Adult - Employment and training services to eligible adults 18 and over who are looking to gain skills and employment in healthcare, IT, manufacturing, construction or administrative services.

Minneapolis Youth Works - Assistance with high school completion, work preparation or employment goals for Minneapolis Youth ages 14-21.
