Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis (JFCS) and Hennepin County have partnered for the Veterans Hiring Initiative Program. Hennepin County is committed to fill positions with veterans. Jobs will be available within various departments at the County with open positions available for spouses, partners, or adult children.

Qualified participants may be active or recently (last five years) honorably/generally discharged members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Potential trainees must complete a 6-month paid training prior to permanent employment by Hennepin County.

6-month paid on-the-job experience that prepares students for the Information Technology work field. This program is open to all Twin Cities residents.

Free Manufacturing Job Skills Training
Hmong American Partnership (HAP) is offering two short-term training programs that include:

A mandatory 80-hour Foundations class with math, print reading, electrical systems, safety, etc. This class will be held on Monday through Friday, October 5-30, 8:30am-12:30pm.

Participants will then take either Soldering or Panel Building training.
Both are 80 hours and both start on November 2.

CNA and Leadership in Hospitality Trainings from ESNS
East Side Neighborhood Services offer two free employment training, Leadership in Hospitality and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), opportunities that can prepare you for the workforce.

Next classes for the Leadership in Hospitality training have not been determined. CNA training classes will be in the evening and will start in October. After program completion, participants will receive college credits through Minneapolis Community and Technical College.

City of Minneapolis Employment and Training administers a variety of employment and training programs under the direction of the Mayor, City Council, and Minneapolis Workforce Council. To learn more about specific programs click on the following links:
