The Department of Human Services recently sent emails about a fee increase for fingerprint and photo services offered by IDEMIA. This change does not impact child care providers. The Department of Children, Youth, and Families covers the cost of child care background studies for all child care provider types. Child care background study and fingerprinting fees, including the March 30, 2026, fee increase, will continue to be covered until further notice. This includes anyone affiliated with a child care program. Visit the child care background studies webpage for more information on who needs a background study.
