You are receiving this email because you are the authorized agent of a licensed child care center or subscribed to the licensed child care center listserv.
As previously communicated in the Implementation Plan for 2025 Legislative Changes, the 2025 Legislature passed a bill requiring a licensed child care center to have a video security camera in each classroom designated for infants and toddlers under certain circumstances. We are sending this communication due to an increase in questions about this requirement.
The requirement to have video security cameras will not apply to all child care centers and does not go into effect until July 1, 2026. Video security cameras will be required under limited circumstances related to maltreatment findings when the maltreatment investigation memorandum is accompanied by an order of conditional license, order of license suspension, temporary immediate suspension, fine, or revocation that is issued on or after July 1, 2026. The center will have six months from the date of the issuance of the maltreatment investigation memorandum to comply with the video security camera requirements.
