Engaging Minnesota - Minnesota Olmstead Plan

Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 5:30pm – 7:00 pm at 1450 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul, MN 55108.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections is hosting an Olmstead Listening session for the public on January 21, 2020 from 5:30-7pm. This event creates the opportunity for leadership from Minnesota state agencies to hear the stories and needs of individuals with disabilities and their family members who are also justice impacted persons and families. Please post in your programs and share within your networks! Feedback and comments offered during the listening session will be harvested and incorporated into forward trajectory of Olmstead work within the state of Minnesota – creating community systems that are inclusive to and meet the needs of all Minnesotans!

Barriers to Reentry

This full-day conference will discuss the barriers of reentry formerly incarcerated individuals experienced & explore possible solutions. The keynote speaker, Reginald Dwayne Betts, transformed himself from a sixteen-year old kid sentenced to nine-years in prison to a critically acclaimed writer and graduate of Yale Law School. He has written three acclaimed collections of poetry, the recently published Felon, Bastards of the Reagan Era and Shahid Reads His Own Palm.

The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is a 6-day intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the ski l ls needed to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. This training also includes the ethical considerations for recovery coaches which addresses many areas including: defining the coaching service role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision making, performance enhancement and legal issues.
