License Renewal

A Minnesota individual insurance license that is due to expire on August 31, 2020 at 11:59 PM Central Time is associated with this email address.

Please note that renewal applications can now be submitted up to 90 days in advance.

If this email address is used by multiple licensees, please verify the expiration dates of the associated licenses using the License Lookup Tool.

Renewal Process

  • Resident licensees, please verify that you have completed all required continuing education. Check your transcript on Sircon by clicking the “Continuing Education Transcript” link.
  • Submit your renewal application and renewal fees online on Sircon using the “Renew or Reinstate your license” link. This must be done before 11:59 PM Central time on the expiration date.
    • Nonresident adjusters, you must list "Minnesota" as your resident state and your Minnesota license number as your resident license number.
  • Carefully review and print your confirmation page. This will serve as your license renewal receipt.
  • After your renewal has been processed by the State you can print a copy of your renewed license on Sircon by clicking the “Print a license” link.

Renewal Fees

Producer license renewal fees are $50 per line of authority plus a $25 Technology Surcharge.

Adjuster license renewal fees are $50 plus a $25 Technology Surcharge.

Resident Continuing Education

  • Verify that you have completed all required continuing education. Check your transcript on Sircon by clicking the “Continuing Education Transcript” link.
  •  You must have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of approved courses with no more than one-half of the credit hours per licensing period sponsored by, offered by, or affiliated with an insurance company or its agents, and at least three of the credit hours must have been from a class or classes in the area of ethics.
  • Find approved continuing education course information on the Sircon website by clicking on the “Look up education courses/providers” link.
  • Only courses listed on the Sircon system under the "Ethics" course category count toward the 3-hour Ethics continuing education requirement. A course will NOT satisfy the requirement simply because it has the word "ethics" in the name of the course or because it lists "ethics" on its syllabus.
  • Contact your course provider directly if you have taken a course that is not listed on your CE transcript. The Department of Commerce cannot assist you with this issue. All completed continuing education courses must be uploaded by the course provider.
  • No credit will be earned if the licensee has previously obtained credit for the same course during the same licensing period.
  • A licensee will not receive credit for more than eight hours of continuing education in one day

If your license expires

An individual insurance producer or adjuster who allows the license to lapse may, within 12 months from the due date of the renewal fee, reinstate the license without the necessity of passing a written examination. However, a penalty in the amount of twice the unpaid renewal fee must be paid by the individual for any renewal fee received after the due date. The licensee must be CE compliant before the reinstatement will be approved. If your license has been expired for more than 1 year you will need to reapply for the license. If an exam is required for licensure you will need to retest, get fingerprinted, and reapply for the license.
